Schedule of children's classes


Fall Session 2016: September 17th to December 11th (no class October 8th, 9th, November 26th and 27th).
Winter Session 2017: Saturday January 7th or Sunday January 8th to March 25th or 26th (no class January 14th and 15th).
Spring Session 2017: April 8th to June 24th (no class April 15th and 16th; and May 27th and 28th).

Class Description

- Children will be immersed in the language though playful activities, songs, dance, stories, games, and more. Parents or caregivers can contribute by encouraging the children. Crafts, drawings will develop the fine motor abilities of the children. Interaction wit puppets will make talking French really fun!

- The class is in full immersion and therefore suited for French or English speaking children. At a young age, children are very intuitive and beginners will learn fast. French speaking children will talk and interact more, while English speakers will need more time to pronounce the words, but they understand very fast.
Babies and toddlers will build new vocabulary through puppets, images, songs and situations in the same way they are building these skills with their language spoken at home.

Parent Participation and Responsibility

One parent or caregiver must attend class with their child(ren). Accompaniment is limited to one parent or caregiver only -no other adults or children may attend. Each parent or caregiver is responsible for the well-being of their child and is strongly encouraged to participate in all the class activities.

Code of Conduct
If a child becomes disruptive, the parent or caregiver will take him/her out of the class until he/she calms down in order to preserve a constructive learning environment.

Class Description (French Maternelle)

- A playful class with activities similar to what children would do in a French maternelle: they learn words and sentences, using them in songs, dance, games, and stories. Crafts, drawings and pre-school/ Kindergarten writing activities will develop their fine motor abilities. For older children, we introduce some writing activities to get started with the French alphabet, and sound/letter recognition in simple words.

- The class is in full immersion and therefore suited for French or English speaking children. At a young age, children are very intuitive and beginners will learn fast. French speaking children will talk and interact more. English speakers will need more time to pronounce the words, however, they will build understanding quickly.

Curriculum
In this class, we learn the basics A1+ / A2 skills (corresponding to a second year of French in middle school). Children need a lot of repetition.The teacher will also do a brief review of concepts from A1.

Premiers apprentissages de la lecture et de l'écriture par la méthode syllabique. Nous ajouterons aussi un travail thématique de vocabulaire avec un apprentissage de la reconnaissance visuelle des mots (jours de la semaine, fruits, couleurs...) selon le programme de grande maternelle et CP mais adapté aux besoins des enfants billingues. Par exemple nous les engagons plus à s'exprimer, nous travaillons sur des points de confusion classique (le e et i le verbe etre et avoir etc..)

Les enfants sont divisés en groupe de niveau.
Pour le niveau le plus avancé, le cours se base sur des activités en commun puis des activités spécifiques selon les capacités des enfants CE2/CM1/ ou CM2/ 6ième.
Les plus performants ont des fiches de travail supplémentaires à faire.
